I’ve been wanting to write about my trip to Italy for some time now but I never got around to it.. I’m such a lazy blogger. Last year I spent most of my time in and out of hospital for treatment and with my immunity still very low I decided it wasn’t worth the risk to go anywhere.
So, from the 2nd to the 9th July this year I went on a much needed holiday to Italy with my family, we stayed in Desenzano Del Garda in Lake Garda which is SO pretty and I would definitely recommend staying there if you ever visit Lake Garda. Desenzano is at the bottom of the lake so it’s quite flat which is good because I can’t be dealing with all those hills. The hotel we stayed in was called Villa Rosa and it was beautiful, unfortunately I never took any pictures of the inside of the hotel (I know) but I’ve included a link to their website if you would like to take a look!
We had a few days trips booked for the week, on the Monday we went on a lake tour which was such a tiring day! We got picked up by coach at 8:30 then didn’t arrive back to the hotel until 7ish so we were all exhausted but it was definitely worth getting up early for. I can’t really explain how beautiful Lake Garda is so here’s a few pictures..
On Tuesday we spent the morning relaxing around the pool then we had a wine tour booked for the afternoon. On the way to the vineyard we stopped at a town called Borghetto which we weren’t expecting but it was such a cute little town. Once we got to the vineyard we had a tour then sat down to taste some wine, It was a really lovely day.
On Wednesday we spent most of the day around the pool and exploring more of Desenzano with a bit of shopping too so quite a relaxing day compared to the rest of the week.
On Thursday we visited Venice, I can’t explain how excited I was to go to Venice as it’s such a beautiful city! Once we arrived it felt a bit surreal, the Grand Canal was amazing. We walked with our tour guide into the middle of Saint Mark’s Square which was incredible but SO busy! I’m so glad I remembered to take my selfie stick haha
We then took a short walk back to the Grand Canal to get on a gondola.. Because you can’t go to Venice and not go on a gondola right?! Such an amazing experience which I’ll never forget.
“Venice never quite seems real, but rather an ornate film set suspended on the water”
Then on Friday we went to explore Verona which is stunning also the food is probably some of the best food I have ever tasted. I would happily go back to Verona even if it’s just for a mini break as it’s such a lovely city.
I absolutely loved Italy and would happily go back and explore more, I haven’t been to Rome yet so I would love to go there. I’m now on countdown as we have another holiday booked in September to go to Cyprus for two weeks which I’m very much looking forward too!
I hope you enjoyed this post, have you been on holiday this year or are planning to go? Have you been to Italy? Let me know in the comments I’d love to know!
