What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
You can choose to be notified for follow up comments by email and be notified for new posts when you leave a comment. You can also choose to save your name, email and website to the browser for the next time you comment. These things are optional and only you can opt in.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Google Analytics & WordPress Statistics
Google Analytics collects information such as details of traffic and visitor behaviour patterns. WordPress also stores standard statistics too which I look at however WordPress doesn’t share any personal data with anyone. This information is only accessed by myself so I can see how many blog views I have, most popular blog posts etc. None of this information identifies individuals or shows personal information like email addresses.
Opting out
Users can set preferences for how google advertisers to you using the google Ad settings page. Alternatively, you can opt out by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative Opt out page or by using the Google Analytics Opt out browser add on.
Who we share your data with
We do not share any personal information with third parties for marketing purposes or in any instance with exception being required to do so by law of the winners details in situations such as giveaways whereby the name, address and email address may be passed on to the company I am collaborating with. By entering any giveaway or entering personal information o this website you are agreeing to these terms.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)
When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under the age of 13 years old, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, United States’ consumer protection agency enforces the COPPA rule which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children’s privacy and safety online.
I do not specifically market to children under the age of 13 years old.
