This post is in collaboration with AKT.
I never thought I’d try a deodorant balm, It’s not something I’ve thought about changing. I’ve always been very loyal to my Nivea roll on deodorant and it seems to do the job but when I discovered AKT, I was interested to find out more.
I’ve always been a bit wary of natural deodorants as I’ve never thought they’d work as well as an antiperspirant deodorant but seeing a few of my friends convert to one, I decided to try one out for myself.
AKT’s natural deodorant was created by London’s West End performers, Ed and Andy. The aim was to produce a natural deodorant unlike any other, one that was born to perform. Their balms feature a blend of botanicals and minerals designed to absorb your sweat and keep you smelling fresh. The plastic-free packaging is made entirely from recyclable aluminium, even the cap – while the formula itself is completely aluminium free. Everything is vegan, and the packaging is just stunning in every way.
I opted for the scent SC.02 After Thunder. It has notes of cedar, eucalyptus & orange. Oh if you’ve ever been into an Aesop store then it smells exactly like when you walk into there. It’s honestly the most perfect scent for me although I would love to try SC.04 Halcyon Summers as I’ve heard that also smells incredible.
The deodorant is a little pricey at £21 for 50ml, according to the website one tube lasts 6-8 weeks but there is a subscribe and save option in which you save 15%. I have only been using mine for a good couple of weeks and I can honestly say, you really only do need a pea sized amount every time you apply it to not only your under arms but anywhere where you feel like you need protection, for example I’ve been applying it on my feet and a little on the back of my neck when going out before a run and It’s totally changed the game for me.
I was worried after applying that it would feel sticky but I was so wrong, it goes on so smoothly and I was instantly able to get dressed without waiting for it to absorb, in contrast to my Nivea roll on which I have to give it a minute before getting changed as the deodorant would rub off on my clothes which it has done many times in the past. The AKT deodorant is non transferable so doesn’t damage my clothes.
I would say the balm is quite stiff but the assistant tool is perfect to easily squeeze out the amount needed, and can be used over and over again not only with the deodorant balm but with toothpaste, moisturisers etc. It’s a great little product which also screams luxury just like the balm.
I can honestly say the effectiveness of the natural deodorant balm is on another level. It lives up to the hype and the awards it has. Obviously it didn’t prevent me from sweating when running but I have noticed a big difference compared to other deodorant brands. It really holds up in terms of the scent power in the battle over B.O.
As a recent convert to a natural deodorant I can honestly say AKT have made me fall in love with their brand and deodorant. It was a total game changer and if you’re looking into changing over to a natural deodorant then I would very much recommend you try out AKT.
