Everybody knows what happens on February 14th, but what about February 13th? Simply put Galentine’s is just like Valentine’s day but for the girls in your life. It’s not official in any sense but it’s a celebration of friendship and is geared towards celebrating the women in your life wether that be your best friend, sister, mom or grandma. It’s a chance to show them just how much they mean to you which I try to do every other day of the year also but it’s just more fun when there’s a day dedicated to it.
I’ve never celebrated Galentine’s before, I think it started more over the pond in the US and eventually has come over to the UK like most things do and it’s not celebrated as much over here but I think the day itself even if it’s just a little gesture like a cute little text saying ‘happy galentine’s” should be celebrated. There aren’t any rules and there’s no right or wrong way to celebrate as such just enjoy as much as you want to but if your in need of some inspo to help you celebrate I’ve put together a few ideas.
Go for a coffee date
Coffee dates are very casual and normally quite inexpensive. They’re a great way to catch up with your friends if you haven’t seen them in a while, and catch up with some gossip you may have missed out on recently while people watching.
Brunch
Is there anything better than brunch? I don’t think so. There are literally no rules for brunch, you can have it however and wherever you fancy and that’s what makes it great. It’s the perfect mix of breakfast and lunch paired with coffee, tea or even a mimosa or two. Host it at home and have a breakfast buffet brunch, it may be less stressful that way or go out and relax at a local restaurant.
Grab some popcorn and head to the cinema
The cinema is always a good idea especially as Mean Girls (not the original, don’t get too excited) is playing right now, it’s the perfect film to celebrate Galentine’s with your gals, grab some overpriced popcorn, a tango ice blast and pick & mix and your good to go.
Invite everyone for game night
Game nights are the best kind of nights. It’s a great way to get everyone involved, It’s something they will all enjoy wether that’s cards against humanity, mario kart or something more classic like monopoly or twister.
Try an new activity together
Is there something you and your friends have been wanting to try for ages? Well Galentine’s day is the perfect day for it. Wether thats’s yoga, a dance class, pottery workshop. The list is endless. Try something new!
Challenge your friends to a bake off
Go on Pinterest and find a dessert recipe, it could be something as simple as cookies (this one looks insane) and see which one of your friends pulls it off the best! The best part of this one is that you all get to sit around eating them afterwards so basically everyone wins.

It’s definitely more of a recent tradition than most but it’s such a nice way of celebrating friendship x
