Hands up who spends more time watching instagram stories than scrolling their feed? I’m very guilty of this but I love seeing the everyday lives of people I follow. If you want to take your instagram stories to the next level then there are a load of apps to help you with that! You can now get so creative on stories with collages, vintage effects, animations and film effects. There’s just so many ways you can get yours to stand out from the crowd.
Instagram stories are obviously now a massive part of instagram with swipe up links (which should be available to everyone FYI Instagram), and the option to create quick video content means we are able to add so much personality to our profiles.
There’s a massive selection of apps out there right now for stories but I thought I would make it easier for you so I’m sharing some of my favourite apps that I use on a daily basis for my instagram stories.
Unfold
I think this is one of the best apps for Instagram stories out right now on the App Store. It’s one I kept seeing on my feed for a while and decided to download and have been using ever since. This is the app behind the polaroid/film strip effect that so many of us seem to be using.
This is possibly my favourite app I use for my stories. It makes stories so clean and modern looking. It’s even possible to share photo’s and video’s on the same story which I love and is super useful especially if you work with brands as they make your story look so professional.
Unfold also lets you preview your story with ‘story mode’ giving you a chance to see how your stories will appear on instagram before posting which is another little great feature.
Unfold is free to download and a lot of the templates are free to use but they have introduced Unfold+ which you have to pay for to get some of the templates but honestly the free version is amazing and you totally don’t need to pay anything to get your stories to look good with the unfold templates.
Made
Made is very similar to Unfold with so many templates featured which are very minimal and although I do like Made I don’t think it’s as good as Unfold. I have only recently downloaded this but it’s not as user friendly and the choice of templates aren’t as good, they are very similar to each other and you haven’t got an option for stickers unlike Unfold which has.
I do however think if you want more control over the template then it’s a good app as they have a few film templates which are nice and definitely one to think about downloading if you want a fresh look to your instagram stories.
Mojo
Adding animation to your Instagram stories is a great way to create eye-catching content and the Mojo app has everything you need to create stunning video’s. It’s super easy to use just like Made and Unfold with templates but they are totally customisable making it so easy to crop, add titles change speeds, colours etc.
Again there’s only a certain amount of templates you can use for free but you can use them for either video’s or still photo’s. It’s really good if you wanted to showcase some text content but want to really make it stand out in your feed! You can download Mojo for free on the App Store.
HUJU Cam
Do you want retro feel photo’s from the year 1998? If you’re looking for that disposable film camera vibe on your photo’s then this is the app that you need in your life. Once I downloaded this one I have non-stop been using it on my stories and everyday life. I am such a fan of film camera’s and the old school look on photo’s, it’s something I have always loved.
HUJU Cam is free to download but I find the only problem is you have to open the app and take a photo rather than upload one from your camera roll then filter it, I mean it’s not a problem, it just tests your photography skills. You can add light leaks to the photo or disable if that’s not your thing but I honestly love this app and if you want that vintage kind of vibe on your photo’s then this is the app to get.
Nichi
Nichi is a very recent discovery but is my current obsession right now. You can create the most beautiful designs with the most customisable templates, there’s just so much you can do and it has the most feminine stickers which I really do love.
I don’t know wether I’m just behind with downloading this app or what but they really do have the loveliest designs and you have so much creative control. They have a free layout design which means you are able to move and zoom the photos, stickers, text etc. to wherever you want. The app is so much more than a college board and is free to download.
Camcorder
Now.. Camcorder is an app which I searched for the longest time. I wanted an app that made videos look like the old home movies that your grandad took when you were younger. I came across camcorder one day while just scrolling through the App Store like you do and just dowloaded as it was the only free app I could find that did the old video style without the price tag.
So, if you want that old style home video look then this is the app to get. It’s a bit disappointing you can only use it in landscape mode and you can’t change the time and date on the video but other than that it’s a really great little app to capture memories on. When I normally post videos from here on my stories I use one of the Unfold templates as it gives a really nice feel and look to it.
Have you found a new app for your Instagram stories recently?
You can find me over on Instagram, why not have a little scroll while you’re there?
